Special Issue on “Review Articles in Educational Technology” in Journal of Educational Technology & Society

(SSCI impact factor of 1.171 according to Thomson Scientific 2012 Journal Citations Report)


2-page extended abstracts: 15 October 2013
Feedback on abstracts: 31 October 2013
Full papers due: 31 March 2014
Special issue publication: October 2014

Journal of Educational Technology & Society invites review articles in various emerging and innovative areas of educational technology field. Each review article should include evidence-based discussion on the emergence of the topic, research methodologies used, analysis of major experimentations, emerging technological and pedagogical directions in the area, and vision for the future.

Various categories identified for review articles are as follows:

~ Learning technologies in specific application domains
(e.g., Remote and Virtual Laboratories in Science Education, Robotics in Engineering Education, 3D Virtual Worlds in Health Education, e-textbooks …)

~ Pedagogical approaches using specific learning technologies
(e.g., adaptive learning, collaborative learning, problem-based learning, flipped-classroom …)

~ Content designs using various learning technologies
(e.g., Wiki, Blog, Podcast, MOOC, Open Content Repositories, …)

~ Assessment approaches using specific learning technologies
(e.g., game-based learning assessment, assessment using 3D virtual worlds, assessment using augmented reality, …)

~ Domain based design and implementation studies using specific learning technologies
(e.g., Experimental studies using augmented reality based learning in medical education, Experimental studies using gesture-based technologies in education of people with special needs .. …)


Step 1:
Interested authors are invited to submit 2-page extended abstracts containing following details by 15 October 2013:

~ Topic of review
~ Authors names, affiliations, full communication address, and email
~ Few sentences highlighting authors’ expertise in the topic
~ A short paragraph with justification on why the topic is important
~ Proposed outline of the full review article (bullet points of main headings will suffice)

Extended abstracts should be submitted using EasyChair system at:

Step 2:
Authors will receive feedback on extended abstracts by 31 October 2013.

Authors of accepted abstracts will be expected to submit full papers for review by 31 March 2014.

For this particular Special Issue, the length of the full review papers should be 7000-9000 words. The format of the paper can be found in the ETS website:
